It's not like me to blatantly ask for wishes for good luck, especially on a public forum, but I'm asking it. Send prayers, karma, good energy or whatever you normally would do. Tomorrow, I'm asking for my future father-in-law's blessing (not permission) on marrying his youngest daughter. I'm proposing in July, out in Washington State. He was upset that his other daughter's husband didn't talk to him before hand, so I know I'm doing the right thing, and I was going to anyway. I work til 7:00 A.M. and then I'm gonna hit the road and we're driving 4 hours, so maybe any negativity I get won't hurt so bad in my stupor. How much should I charge myself to write the music for the wedding?

P.S. You also might want to pray that our kids get her looks, and not mine.

P.S.S. You all are invited to it next summer. There will be bagpipes, organ, etc.

She's a lucky young woman. Congratulations to you both.

Best wishes to you all - including her father and the rest of your families!

Good luck?! Heck, my father-in-law (RIP) introduced me as "my daughter's intended" when I had absolutely no intention!

Anyway, good luck. Hopefully he won't laugh in your face or punch you out.

Another one bites the dust :-)

Nah, you're doing it the right way. Good luck!

    Good luck, Danimal!

    Kind regards.

    Re: Marriage

    Marriage, huh? Super congrats!!!

And as a sample-based musician it's a must to write something for the wedding...big and orchestral...then after you sing about doves and love, slam into a metal riff right at the end . You can't get away with a metal riff at a wedding in any other way.

Get 'em smiling, crying (Wow he said he loves me?) then hendrix riff.

And then you'll have a story to tell the rest of your life.

    Brilliant idea, Steve!

A story you can tell your grandchildren...

And make sure you record it and then post it here, Danimal :-)

    Kind regards.

It would have to be a summer wedding, though!

Thanks all! Everything went great. A little buttering up never hurts. I brought future father in law a homemade bottle of wine (good stuff, I didn't make it), and we took him out for Father's Day lunch after church.

    Ern,

How did you get a picture of one of the bride'smaids?

I'm thinking "For Whom the Bell Tolls" by Metallica...(also a great book by Hemingway). That should be a fitting riff.
