It’s off topic, but not totally, as it concerns all creators and/or developers.

It’s about the ability to pull out cultural goods and services of the WTO.

There was an UNESCO convention in Madrid last June 11/12 with 45 ministers.
With Carmen Calvos (Spain), Renaud Donnedieu de Vabre (France) and Gilberto Gil (Brazil) as the three organizer countries.

I can’t find any English link about this... (CNN, Fox, etc...)

This is a major issue, though.

    For the whole world.

As far as I know, two countries are against that declaration : USA and India.

The next step in October (for the ratification).

    Done.

Adopted by 148 states, against two (U.S. and Israel).

Well it doesn’t seem to make the headlines in US (I can’t find any news link about this...) , but it’s a big big step in the world trade relations...

And a big news for us all around the world, authors or developers...

October the 20th 2005, definitely an historical day in the human’s story of culture and art.

This US misadministration will not accept any guidelines but its own. Bush's concept of cultural diversity is to have both a Mexican AND a Guatamalan maid...

And we know how he feels about protecting the non-WASP population of the US (google Katrina for details...)

If every country except the U.S. and Israel signed this, it means that China will nurture Tibetan culture, people throughout the Arab world will be free to convert to other religions without getting killed for it, Mexican TV will have some people who aren't white, and Sudan will cherish its non-Moslem peoples. Great news!

Hey, I admit, Bush sucks..But aren't you from the same camp that thinks he allowed the towers to get flown in to? So which is it? Is he against white collar office workers, or poor southern folks? Your camp needs to make up it's mind.
