Smile The Waking Dream (Symphonic, cheerful. uplifting)

    Hi folks!

Well as some of you know, I wanted to make sure I could still write down-beat minor underscore to practice minor key writing, and I suppose I mostly achieved that with Within These Walls. I was trying to achieve something similar with Masquerade but although that was minor it came out as a sort of uptempo spanish number anyway. Part of my psyche rebels against being suppressed like this

So here's the logical progression and we're back in the big, exhibition piece, Hollywood balls-to-the-wall big brass and percussion number... Perpetually cheerful, that's me

The piece struck me as very hopeful; not on a concrete level, but that good things were always 'around the corner' (another part of my psychological makeup) so the title reflects that, it's a quote from Aristotle - 'Hope is the dream of the waking man' (something like that): The Waking Dream.

Play it really loud and just get washed away with it - air conduct if you have to

John Hawksley - The Waking Dream.mp3 (7.1 MB).

    Enjoy folks

    John

    Well Mr. Hawksley,

I'm amazed as usual!! This is supurb work!!! Excellent job!

You're so great at the cheery/uplifting music that you should keep writing the cheerful stuff and leave the down-beat minor stuff to me No need to get yourself down!!

Excellent!!! I can't wait to hear the next installment!!

By the beard of Larry Alexander!

    and

    Hi Tom

Thanks for listening... Larry I CERTAINLY cannot teach you anything!!! Yah the tuba's great, there are two solo tubas, plus their FF overlay, plus their AG overlay in this one.. what the heck, push the boat out!

I find this piece is great for if people are getting you down - play it loud and chant "screw 'em" .. you'll soon feel better

    Cheers lads,

    John
