    Linux on the iPod

Here's an article on MacWorld about installing Linux on an iPod and what it can do, including high quality 96kHz audio recording with the 3d generation model.

Now that's enough to make me want to go out and buy an iPod. Oh, if I were only rich. So many toys, so little money.

Notice that you can record mono 96K or custom wire a cable for stereo (probably 48K.) But you cannot play back a file. WTF? Perhaps they're referring to playing back an Apple-encoded AIFF, not a raw WAV?

It would be a major PITA to have to switch OSes every time you needed to listen to what you just recorded...

High quality 96kHz audio recording? You mean we could do remote sample sessions with an iPod?

Man, that makes me want to get an iPod even more... seems like there could finally be a use for that 60 gig iPod after all...
