So I figure that this is probably an obvious question, but I thought I'd ask anyways. With the intention of running as many virtual instruments as possible, is it more important to have buckets of RAM or a blazing quick processor in your computer (assuming that a choice between the two has to be made)? Until my jewel heist plans come together and I can afford a G5, I'm still plugging away on my 1 GHz G4 with 1 GB of RAM, so I want to get the most out of what I've got in the meantime.
Of course, balance is the key. Too little of either will cause a bottleneck.
That said, if your virtual instruments are synths, then you want more CPU. If your virtual instruments are samples, you want RAM. If you're running convolution reverb and other effects, the CPU is the key.
