    New Media Ventures esque Cue...

    Hey guys,

I was bored today and simply felt like doing something Zimmerish. In the end I was pretty happy with the result and thought Id post it for those of you that like that media ventures sound. Before anyone says how easy or "boring" it is to reproduce the Zimmer sound... I did this for fun, and I happen to really enjoy the zimmer sound (especially his earlier scores, which is what I was going for with this cue). Hopefully you'll find it to be a fun listen.

    Here's what I used:
Atmosphere - for all ambience and strings at the end
    Stormdrum
    R.A.W. for the ethnic instruments
    Ultimate Strings
Florestan Martellato strings (really have a beefy sound to them)
    Sonic Implants Strings
Project SAM for the short Trombone and Horn part
    VOTA for the male choir

It does not sound like you were bored I like it, especially the sound FX and the part with the strings.

Very Nice. I think you did a great job. Extremely well executed.

    That's very nice Rich.

I think you should take this cue more seriously, the end is a little abrupt.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments. I was listening to it again today and I actually am really happy with it, turned out rather well (aside from the abrupt ending of course). I was actually thinking of using this vibe to do several more cues in the same vein to come up with an imaginary score in my spare time, sounds like it'd be fun!

    Do it! (imaginary Score)
Nice cue... It's a bit "media venture-style, ok, but i think there is more of your style coming through (even if i dont know it) than the Hollywood stuff.

I decided to do the second cue in this set yesturday. It's alot more low key, but showcases the MV male choir I concocted from VOTA. Enjoy!

    Rich,

I like both of these. I like synths mixed with orchestral (just another 'color' to use - I don't think they should be mutually exclusive). Have you heard Elfmans 'title credits' (or whatever it is called) of the Willy Wonka film. He meshes synths with orchestral very effectively (IMHO). Again nice cues.

    Bored? Seriously?
I wish my instances of boredom were as creative.
    Really nice sounds.

Thank you guys, really appreciate it. Ive had alot of projects which requested the Zimmer sound lately so Ive had time to really perfect my mastering in that style. Also, since Zimmer and co are the scores I listened to since I was a kid and Im self taught, thats where alot of my music theory came from. Im going to try to do another 1 or 2 cues for this "film" over the weekend.
