Hi, Gang...

Just a quick note to say that Donnie (Brasspig) Sorah sent me a copy of one of his compositions--a Dance Scene for Brass Quintet--after we met at Summer NAMM last month.

We read it on a "paid rehearsal" job last weekend--we loved playing it and a few people came up after it wanting to know what it was.

Unfortunately, the recorder was not running, so I can't post a performance, but we will rehearse it and get it recorded after we do it a few times live & really have it down.

Donnie is an excellent composer with (of course) a great knowledge of and feel for brass instruments...

So c'mon man, get them other movements written!!

Just remember...french horns don't swing...euphoniums do.

Thanks so much for the wonderful compliments. I'm very happy to hear that you and your audience enjoyed the piece. I'm working on two other movements, but I may decide to add a fourth. Not sure at this point. It just depends on the length of these two I'm working on and if it just feels like it needs more. We'll see.

And thank you for having my work performed. If the rest of the guys in your group are anywhere near as talented as you, you must have played the heck out of it! I really would like to hear a recording, even if it's a quick low-fi recording. It has not been performed live for my ears yet, although our brass ensemble at the college plans to work up the suite for the end of the semester recital. So. . . there's more motivation to get working!

I'm so thankful to have guys like you and the rest of the GPO gang to share with. I learn so much everyday reading and listening to your work!

Background music for an annual outdoor party of "patrons of the arts."

We can do 'bout anything we want...and we do (within reason)!
We've been doing it ever since I joined the band in 1989. They're actually quite nice & most of 'em can carry a tune!

Glad you caught it, Sean!! I wasn't sure how it would go over--it does have a bit of age on it, but so do I. I guess the set of AYBABTU people does intersect with the set of GPO users! And now we've clued in a couple more people.
