"serious music" ... as if the rest of us are just kidding
What makes the Garritan Personal Orchestra Community so great?
Well, just listen to these 6 entries and find out!
For me, it is the fantastic variety of music and ideas found amongst its many members - all perfected highlighted in the Orchestration Challenge III - a nearly "best of the best" orchestrations of a rather odd theme.
So what do you, dear listeners, prefer?
Le Grande Overture Entry #1?
Would winds blow your horn for Entry #2?
the vibrant vibes of Entry #3?
the mysterious and sensuous Entry #4?
the lost Gypsy in Bourbon St. of Entry #5?
the Djinni jazz Entry #6
And I'll never know if you don't get out and vote!
with all due respect,
YBaCuO
Just back from holidays!
Great entries from everyone - I was pleased to see a good number, becasue I was worried that the theme I wrote might put some people off.
I have only listened to each entry once so far, so I need a little more time before I comment and vote, other than to say I am amazed at the diversity of the different treatments.

***Bumping, yet again***
***Vote people!!Vote!!***
If I voted on 6 different days,I might have cast 6 different votes!!!!![]()
It was a fascinating puzzle, that seems to have 6 different correct answers.
The sensuality of #4,just tipped me over the edge.Sensuality is one of the qualities of the Orchestra, that I have loved since the day I first encountered it.
Kudos to you all,the standard you are all reaching, is truly impressive.
For those of you that took part, isn't it interesting, how different artists handle the same material.??
regards
I would vote, but they are all so...unique. VERY unique. Interesting enseambles, a very interesting theme, varying textures and emotions. I really can't decide. Since I am an inexperienced composer I can't really tell who used the theme 'the best'. Especially with such a unique theme. The first duel was much easier to vote on, IMHO.
They all sound SO GOOD!!!!![]()

No, I do not live in Texas
The harder it is to vote, the better!!(Well, unless they're all so bad
but that certainly isn't the case here)
