I think you summed it up pretty well.
This forum is by far my favorite music making forum in terms of maturity, friendliness, and helpfulness. I visit lots of other forums too--they don't come close. KVR is a big forum, but too many of its members are ignorant/arrogant rude ~~~~~es who think that abstract synth knobs tweaking noises/soundscapes is the highest form of music and anyone who studies/knows music theory or makes music that sounds "normal" is automatically written off as being uncool and unoriginal. I used to visit Future Producers too, but that place has been overrun with "How do I make phat beat? I wanna be a producer and make lots of bling bling" idiotic teenagers who know nothing about music and only want to be rich ganster rap producers. There are a few other forums that have a nice atmosphere, but the traffic is too slow to be of any real help. I find NSS to be a good balance of moderate traffic and great community. *Group hug!*
I don't. I did.
That's too bad. Can you elaborate? Just curious as to why you longer feel the love.Originally Posted by janila
Sure. I was extremely happy when I found this place a year ago. It felt like home. After that one of the greatest companies in the industry was forced to leave, several important members were banned and this forum got crippled by commercialism and censorship. Nowadays pretty much all of the discussions are about problem solving. Enthusiasm has left to other forums.Originally Posted by Lunatique
Can you name those forums? (You can PM them to me if you don't want to say publically.)Originally Posted by janila
Why did those previous things happen? Because users exposed underhanded business practices of companies? Because that major company broke forum rules?
You kinda missed all the fun! I don't think it's productive to reopen old wounds but I'm sure if someone wants to bring you up to speed privately, they'll PM you.
Music Composition for Feature Films, Television and Interactive Entertainment
Like any large family, there are lots of personalities, and some rub worse than others. Uncle Al is in the closet, cousin Zeke is in jail again...
but the folks here are still as friendly (usually, anyway ) as ever, it's just that some things are best not talked about. Don't worry about it, just be yourself and be relaxed and, um composed.
It's all about the music - really. I keep telling myself that...
I had heard of these sentiments and although my post count would suggest I have little experience of this forum, I have been watching in the wings for some time. I would have to agree with Janila, as I have seen this happen and have had private conversations with those who have fallen foul of the bias & censorship personally.Originally Posted by janila
On the whole, this is a good source of info and help, but suffers from some drawbacks. I will still visit and contribute in a positive manner tho'.
I mostly see BelaD, Worra and Garritan announcements here, a couple hardware issues and some important psycho-philosophical threads.
