New Oriental style short piece (The Taste of Sunrise)
The other day I suddenly got the urge to write an Oriental style track, I dont really know why just wanted to try a different style I suppose. So I researched some far eastern instruments like koto and lion drums etc and decided to compose for a small ensemble of eastern instruments and to see what I could come up with, the track is called (The Taste of Sunrise), its only a short piece and I wanted it to sound very improvised like a group of people had just sat down and started jaming this tune
I wrote the tune in about a day and used GPO cello, cymbals, Short violin 1, short Viola and Short ag cello
anyway hopefully u'll go and check it out on my web site its track 3 on the music page, and if u have any comments I would love to hear them, let me know whether u think I got the right Idea or for that matter completely off the mark
Very cool study, I like it! It definately has a sort of neo japanese style to it. Traditionally, those types of pieces are very loose in rhythm and unison, though you take the same concepts and make a groove out of it. Not wrong by any means, as it's your piece. I enjoyed the groove though, makes me wish it was longer perhaps.
Just curious, where did you get the other sounds used? I love all sorts of world instruments and definately hope to incorporate them into things in the future.
You hit the nail on the head. This sounds quite authentic. During my years in the Navy I had occasion to visit Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, etc. I loved listening to the local music and your piece sounds like the many sounds I heard. The cello and flute are what makes this convincing as well as the Koto.
I actually really enjoyed doing this track, quite different for me. I wasn't sure whether I had missed the mark on it, but the reasurance from u guys has made me feel aloyt better and I'm so greatful thanks
I really appreciate that Roberto, and that is something that I would really truley love to do as a career but I know how difficult it is, I would just like to be able to make a living writing music which I'm sure alot of people on here would love the same thing, but thanks for the encouregment.
