    Carillion Library

A quick introduction of my latest work:The PMI Carillion.
It's a huge carillion with 58 clocks, equal tempered, starting at Bflat that spans 4 full octaves. All bells of the Carillion have been sampled on a quiet day: no traffic noise disturbs the sound.

It's still work in progress but I managed to make some demos for who's been waiting for this instrument to become available as a sample library.

    Demo 1
Demo 2 and here is the same MP3 clip of the big bells in a duet with church organ.

We're working with a woodwork craftsman who is making a Carillion "play-table" equipped with midi outputs, so you can create a virtual Carillion for educational and recreational purposes.

Release somewhere next week, info to follow.

    Enjoy!
    Best regards,
    Michiel Post

    Re: Carillion Library

Isn’t it the first one ever sampled ?

    Four octaves... it’s a big one !

And it sounds pretty right. (It’s the danger with carillons : a bad pitch on one or another bell in the scale which make it unplayable...)

All bells of the Carillon have been sampled on a quiet day: no traffic noise disturbs the sound.
I can imagine the neighbors on the city place : « Ha no ! Again ! Pull out this guy out of this church or I take my shotgun, we wanna sleep, here ! »
I suppose your in the police file now...
Are you banned from the village ?

Don’t worry, we support you anyway. We have guns too. It’s for the sample cause.

(But maybe it is not in a church...)

Was that during the official "traffic-free sunday" we just had a few weeks ago?

    Hi Michiel,

    Sounds great!
Could you please use one ore different drumsticks and hit the bells manually.
This would be a beautiful instrument if you record it with a minimum of 5 dynamics.
I don´t care if this is realistic or not.
Make a version with a very slow attack. That could be a wonderfull glassharp.

    Just some ideas.
