    Fast runs (scales... etc.)

Hi, what method or technique do you use to achieve as realistic runs possible with strings and/or woods?

Runs = scales, fast motives etc.

For strings, I bump up the VAR 1 knob (CC 22) after the first note of the run, and drop it back down to 0 just before the final note. This works really well when ensemble-building and makes the run sound so much less computer-precise. I'm not a string player, so I'm not certain whether technically one should be bowing each note or play several notes on the same bow-stroke, but it sounds better to me when the run is played legato.

For woodwind instruments, I just play the runs in legato mode.
