    64 Bit Windows

Hi! Does KONTAKT 2 runs in 64bit Windows ?

    Thanks.

    Re: 64 Bit Windows

It will run in Windows x64, but in 32 bit backwards compatability mode (don't remember what its called exactly).

    Re: 64 Bit Windows

I should say that I have not run it this way, but it is my understanding that most 32 bit apps will run in x64, perhaps with a minimal performance hit, while native 64 bit code will get some sort of performance boost. I've been following this closely but have no actual experience myself. I'm pretty sure we'll get reports very soon from Sonar 5 users who become early adopters of x64.

    Re: 64 Bit Windows

Now running SONAR x64 and KONTAKT 2 in 64 bit Windows.
KONTAs fKT 2 is running in 32 bit compatible mode, I think.
But I cannot select KONTAKT 2 in SONAR soft synth menu, there is no DXi items.

What did I do wrong ?

SONAR x64 runs fine by itself.

    CPU Athlon dual core 4800+
    Memory 2GB
until today the sound hardware is on the motherboard NVIDIA with 64 bit driver.
    tomorrow it will be M-AUDIO.

    Thanks.

    Re: 64 Bit Windows

    I am confused.

Someone told me that KONTAKT 2 runs natively in 64 bit if the newest update is applied. I am not sure. Does anyone know if this is true or not ?

Maybe KONTAKT 2 runs in 32 bit mode in 64bit Windows.

In the readme file of SONAR 5, it is written that 32 bit DXi will not run in 64 bit Windows. And I think KONTAKT 2 is 32 bit DXi. Am I correct ?

    Thanks

    Re: 64 Bit Windows

I found out that KONTAKT 2 is 32 bit application and K2 runs in 32 bit mode in x64 Windows. In x64 Windows, it requires 64 bit audio driver.

    Re: 64 Bit Windows

My understanding is that Sonar's BitBridge would allow 64 bit Sonar to use 32 bit Kontakt. According to the Cakewalk web site Bit Bridge is for VSTs only, and perhaps not for DX. Did you install the Kontakt VST, or only the DXi?

M-Audio does provide 64 bit drivers for nearly all their sound cards.

32 bit DXi does not work in x64 Windows. Only 32 bit VSTi works in bit bridge mode in x64 Windows.
It took long time to figure this out.
So I only installed K2 VSTi in x64 Windows. I was trying to run K2 as DXi and this will not work until 64 bit version of K2 DXi becomes available.

    Cheers

    Re: 64 Bit Windows

So what could you load sample-size-wise into Kontakt/RAM in 64 bit Sonar?
