    FireWire Guitar

Rolph Spur has built a FireWire guitar. He has a site which isn't complete and is deutsch but there is a different picture of it there.

What kind of MIDI guitar devices are you using?

    Re: FireWire Guitar

Likely the FW is only carrying audio for each of the strings, sort of like the Roland hex pickups, their V-series, or Line6's new Variax.

Of course, they can then do the pitch analysis on PC side to convert to MIDI. But it's still subject to that lag-time of frequency analysis, particularly on low notes. Hopefully the lack of line noise will make it a bit less error-prone, though!

For other MIDI guitar discussion (and my solution), check this thread.
