Topic: Garritan Native Sample Rate

    Garritan Native Sample Rate

I understand that Kompact converts the sample rate of libraries on loading
(if needed), according to the rate being used currently by hardware (correct me if I'm wrong).

What is the native sample rate of the GPO libraries? The idea being that if the samples are loaded at their original rate and not converted they will sound (marginally, perhaps) better.

    Just curious.

Hi Hugh, and welcome to the forum.

GPO does not use Kompakt. It either uses the Kontakt player that is designed specifically for GPO, or the full version of Kontakt.

To answer your question though, GPO’s sample rate is 16 bit. There is no conversion by the player.

    Hi Karl.

"Kompakt" was a typo thing on my part. I meant Kontakt. Kompakt is used by East West library, which I also have.

What I was really wondering about was the sample rate - as in 44.1 or 48K - not the bit depth. I do believe the player converts - if needed - upon loading . . . otherwise the samples would play back at the wrong pitch!

    Any ideas?
