    Re: Dual Core Thoughts ???

I just bought a dual-core setup, the salesperson told me that I needed XP Pro to take full advantage of a dual core system.

I'm too familiar with the other components you mentioned so I can't comment on those.

    DUal Core Rocks!

no need for XP Pro, home will fully use a Dual core. you only need pro for 2 PCU sockets not a single socket dual core.

dont use a SATA OS drive use an IDE.

dont use a SATA OS drive use an IDE.

Could you explain why this is? I am using a sata drive for OS and all seems to be fine....

    Re: Dual Core Thoughts ???

I'm also using a SATA drive for the OS.

It was a bit more challenging to set up than IDE - mostly related to the BIOS, and then another SATA screen resident on the mobo - but once I got it configured correctly, it's been solid.

My conclusion: IDE is easier. but SATA is fine for the OS.

    Re: Dual Core Thoughts ???

I'm also running SATA for OS on my Asus setup ( not dual core ) .....Is there something that would make a Dual core setup not respond well to an OS on SATA differently than a single ? ..How does the rest of this setup look to you guy's ? ....I will have 2 gigs of ram , not 1 ....Thanks, ...Jim
