    need recs for computer/keyboard furniture!

It's a bit off-topic, but I was curious if anyone on this forum might be able to recommend some furniture to house my dual-computer monitors, 88-key keyboard, 2 desktop computers, small mixer and small stereo receiver plus small speakers. We're moving and my office will likely be in a very nice "sun room" which will also contain our baby grand piano, so I want the whole setup to be as aesthetically pleasing as possible! I'm particularly interested in furniture that isn't necessarily the normal modern, black stuff but something that has a bit of an older-school look to it (richer woods, drawers, etc...?)
    Thanks for any thoughts!!

    Hey DD,

See recent discussion, "Studio workstation desk recommendations?"

Well, OK, maybe not furniture, furniture is covered in that link, so...

I'm fond of turn of the century arts and crafts (mission) style.

Can't tell you about furniture. But please be cautious about where you put the piano in that sun room. It sounds to me like a good setup for cracked finish, cracked case, tuning instability and cracked soundboard.

It sounds to me like you want custom furniture. The problem is that we always change equipment, and then the custom furniture becomes unusable.

So I'd stick to standard furniture that you can use again. A table is always going to be a table, etc.

    Oh, forgot...

You might dig an afternoon window shopping on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn.

Maybe you already know of the cool antique and used furniture places up and down the street.

Horseman has the best deals, but you really have a lot to go through. Some of the stuff is borderline junk. Still, I bought two pieces there that would have been triple the price at ABC Carpet.

You have to eat at Brawta next to Horseman, BEST JAMAICAN FOOD.

Hey, speaking of ABC Carpet, they do have more affordable outlet stores in Hackensack, DUMBO & Bronx

Well, it doesn't have any drawers, but in terms of having plenty of space for everything you need and a nice long side area for MIDI controller, etc., and a price that is bound to be much lower than anything else you're likely to find ($79 at Staples), maybe this would work for you?

Probably more low-end than you're looking for, in terms of the look and quality of the wood and all that, but if you (or anyone else) are looking for a great combination of space and price, I'd recommend looking for that at your local Staples.

Gotta say, I was in Staples, or maybe it was Office Depot, but they had some pretty nice stuff in different styles at low prices.

Don't buy a chair there though.

I've got a Knoll Bulldog, which I got before I found out that there are online discounters who sell Herman Millers, Aeron.

    http://www.hermanmiller.com/CDA/SSA/...440-p8,00.html

Who buys the office furniture at DB? They might be able to get you a discount through the company. Full retail for an Aeron is like a grand, but they can be had for less than half if you take your time to find a deal...

Even at a discount it sounds extravagant, but considering the cost of all your other equipment, a good chair that supports your body properly during long hours of work is probably the most important piece of equipment in your creative space.
