"Ca Ira" is a new opera I've been waiting five years for. Its been "in the works" for that long that I've known of anyway. And it was just released.

Composed by Roger Waters (bassist/lyricist/genious behind Pink Floyd), its not a rock opera (drums and guitars) its a traditional opera (tenors and cellos) and it's amazing.

Its available via amazon.com or iTunes, both in the original french version and in an english version, both written by Waters.

I thought this was going to be a story of California Individual Retirement Account - the first Schwarzenegger opera...

    Any demos to post?

    There's a few sound clips here: http://www.ca-ira.com/

When you get there, skip the little flash player to track two - its my favorite of all the three acts.

very cool. Thanks for the link. (That's a Ca with a cedilla , like ç, not California... oh, well, one day we'll have computer keyboards that have such characters easily available, not U+00E7, or ALT 148 or something...

Alan, I posted this a few weeks ago and was completely ignored.

How is it BTW? I need to pick it up, but I'm deficient in the 'funds' area right now.

I really like it - but I'm biased being one of Waters' biggest fans. Don't get it expecting The Wall or Amused to Death - its an actual opera. But you can pick up hints of Waters' signature writing here and there - especially in the cellos (which would take over for his bass guitar when orchestrated) and the horns (taking over for his vocal).

I purchased mine from iTunes - it's about $12 cheaper than going the Amazon.com or Best Buy route, if you use iTunes.

It's on Rhapsody. Ten bucks a month, all the streaming, downloading, burning you can stand. iTunes blows.
