Converting Vintaudio Pianos to Kontakt2 experience?

    Hi,

I'm one of the happy users that bought the Vintaudio yamaha+Pianos+guitars Groupbuy a few months ago.

Now, I'm moving from Gigastudio to new Kontakt v2 and I'd like to know if any1 has imported Vintaudio Pianos Giga format to kontakt format.

Is there any programming problem? or will I lose any functionality with this translation? is there new specific kontakt v2 scripts for this library?

    Thanks

Me too, I was part of the group buy for the Yamaha C7 and the guitars. But just curious thought, why are you moving from giga to K2. I've been using the C7 so far only in giga, and have been happy with the results so far, and hence never considered converting these for K2. But I am curious as well now.

There are quite a bit of research going with K2 and scripts for piano, check this place out, and I know there are a few more.

Franky has a K2 version out, as an upgrade. Basically has most of the G3 features. So, for a few bucks, you ought to be able to order the upgrade from him. Beware . . . the convolution reverb (while very nice) eats processor power for breakfast!

I'm moving to K2 because of its new features and its new GREAT performance. Even better thatn Giga v3!

ddarwin7, do you know more places with K2 scripts for piano or other samples?

Re: Converting Vintaudio Pianos to Kontakt2 experience?

I'm also moving from GS to K2, and I have ordered my upgrade for Vintaudio C7.
K2 has cool features for piano programming (not convolution, but scripting capabitilies allowing to modelize real piano behavior)

I strongly encourage to try Kronel script (http://music.mezo.com/), I'm using it a lot. But don't expect this to eat less CPU than convolution... Don't forget to read explanation pages

If I'm not mistaken, Vintaudio delivers K2 C7 with a simplified version of Kornel script.

That thread on sonniccontrol is ridiculous. Two comparisons of GS3 vs K2, one of them has GS3 running through the GigaVST adapter and the other is in Rewire mode. That's like testing a Ferrari vs a Ford GT with one of them running 83 octane gas.

I own GS3 Orchestra and K2. To really get the performance out of GS3 that it is capable of it needs to be on a dedicated box running a sound card with GSIF2 drivers. Not Rewired or GigaVST'd. I do use K2 alot because I like running it inside of Sonar and my library of K2 instruments is growing.

The other place I know of that has K2 scripts is here

I agree, I also have both giga and K2. I have giga on a separate dedicated high end PC with GSIF2 with all the giga tweaks, and the performance is incredible. To get the most out of GS3, you'r best to have a dedicated PC. But I also like the features and the large sample library that came with K2. I still haven't got the hang of K2 yet, so I still find myself using GS3 more often.

Do you know how to convert the sounds that use "stack" mode in Giga v3 (like the pedal down and pedal up), in kontakt v2?

The only way is to assign each sample to one kontakt instrument? (pedal down in one instrument and pedal up in other with same midi input)

And therein lies the problem. Having a dedicated box is great, but it would be nice if it could be dedicated to ALL of your apps, not just one.
