Blue Piano - Clavinova and JABB

I recorded this composition on a Yamaha Clavinova a while ago, and having got JABB decided to experiment, and to get some experience with JABB, by adding some light rhythmic accompaniement, percussion and bass.

So here are the results "Blue Piano"

This is beautiful! An obvious Gershwin cop, but very nice. The only thing is that the rhythm feels a little static with that same drum part repeating for so long. Maybe once in a while do the hi hat on 2 and 4 and then 2, 3 and 4 instead of always 2, 3 and 4.

Shazbot - I agree with you re the static rhythm - this is just work in progress. I hope to vary it when I have learned more. Meanwhile thanks for your comments

Eugene, this is very nice indeed and is none the worse for being Gershwinesque. Once the drums are tidied up it'll be super late night food.....just the job for a nice slow smoochy foxtrot.

    Wonderful!

I agree about the Gershwin feel..
    Very nice arrangement.

    I own a Clavinova myself.. (CVP-50)
Did you patch the audio into your computer, and record it there?.... If so, the quality of the piano carried through quite nicely!

    Well done

Thanks Jeff - I recorded the Clavinova using its own recording facility, and transferred it to DAT, then played it into PC sound card. I hadn't much success patching Yamaha midi directly into the computer, as the dynamics didn't come through - I'm sure I'm doing something wrong there.

The piano work is nice. Have you tried using brushes for the drums. That's what my ears want to here on this piece.
