Happy 2006! And a new demo: a scottish reel

I've been doing some projects all year long and finally got some time to do another demo.
It's an orchestration of a reel for bagpipes called The Back of the Moon composed by A.G. Kenneth.

First, the original tune as played by my pipe band: (warning, this link contains bagpipes-- don't be offended )

Back of the Moon - original (by the way I'm one of the snare drummers in this recording)

Now, here is my GPO Orchestration.

It's actually in the same key as written... but pipes are tuned a half step higher than their written music.

    Comments? Flames?

Hey, I love bagpipes! (They were invented by my Polish ancestors, you know.)

Thud, this is *very* well done! Nice job! The sound on it is great, excellent in fact; and the arrangement is top-drawer.

But -- could you maybe layer in some Polish bagpipes on the GPO version?

    Best,

Your arrangement is adorable! My daughter walked through the room and thought I was on the Disney website! Nice job in the translation from bagpipes to orchestra (and I'm not one to complain about bagpipes - OK - maybe disco bagpipes ) Thanks for sharing!

Nice job Thud - you've taken bagpipe music and made it beautiful

(Only kidding - I actually like pipe band music - My mom's seriously into Scottish Country Dancing and when I was a kid we had loads of Scottish pipe band records on all the time - as well as constant Scottish Country dance music - my favourite was the great Jimmy Shand and his band).

I love the pipes! And your orchestration is wonderful.

Great original (I'm Scottish....although my accent has gone ) and I thought that your orchestral arrangement and realisation was superb. Thanks.

I do hope that Lux wasn't right about the invention of the pipes I mean the Asians (and others) also have pipes and they were around when us Europeans were under, or following up, the ice caps
