    "Horn Quartet In Ab" (Excerpt)

    Y'all,

Here is a short excerpt from my "Horn Quartet In Ab". It features four different GPO horns and the GPO Steinway Piano Lite.

Ben Dover is playing first horn. Sue Mee is the pianist.

A short excerpt? Where's the rest of it?

Great work, I enjoyed it as usual!

That is all that I have GPOized so far.

    Thanks for listening.

Well, now, don't keep us in suspense, here... go GPOssify the rest of it.

You don't hear four-horn choir pieces much; enjoyed the listen, Larry.

I'm not sure if the rest of this horn work is really worth GPOizing, Dave. I'll give it another listen and then decide if I want to put in the effort to finish converting it to GPO.

It has been played live by real, living, breathing horn players and that was inspirational to me, to say the least.

I am pleased that you like it so far. Thanks.

Horn choirs (and most other such) tend to be an acquired taste.

It's also darned tough to get software French horns to sound like the real thing -- the brightness they can have when needed, and the wonderful nuances they can manage -- so one needs to listen with that in mind.

Personally, I don't know if I'd even attempt something like this in GPO. Maybe supernaturally-eared beings like DPDan can pull it off, but mere mortals such as you and me?

I'd probably bunt and run, and reorchestrate for full brass...
