Smile Remember those old television commercial jingles?

Here are a few I remember when I was a little bitty baby rock n' rollin' in suburban middle class soon to be defunct America.

“You can trust your car to the man who wears the star. The big red Texaco Star!”

“See the USA in your Chevrolet!”

“N-E-S-T-L-E-S … Nestles makes the very best. Chocolate!”

“Pop! Pop! Fizz! Fizz! Oh what a relief it is!”

"Take Sominex and sleep ... "

    Anyone thank of anymowa?

If you think it's butter, but it's not, it's Chiffon!

You can take Salem out of the country, but... you can't take the country out of Salem!

Slinky! Slinky! For fun it's a wonderful toy!...

Charlie says "Love my Good & Plenty!" Charlie Says "Really rings the bell!"...

Candy coated popcorn, peanuts and a prize. That's what you get with Crackerjack!

Raise your arm... raise your arm if you're Sure!

Transformers... more than meets the eyes... Transformers... robots in disguise!

You'll wonder where the yellow went, when you brush with Pepsident

Oh, I wish I were an Oscar Mayer wiener!

    (but even better was...)
Hot dogs. Armor hot dogs. What kind of kids eat Armor hot dogs? Fat kids, skinny kids, kids who climb on rocks, tough kids, sissy kids, even kids with chicken pox!

"Bring out the Best Foods and bring out the best!" or on the east coast, I'm told it went like this:
Bring out the Hellman's and bring out the best!"

"Ring around the collar! Ring around the collar!" (not good, but memorable!)

I'd rather fight than switch! (Is this too obscure?)

"I'd like to teach the world to sing, in perfect harmony, etc" Pepsi - or was it Coke?! LOL

I'm chiquita banana and I'm here to say..." that's all I remember - I was young, give me a break

Brylcream, a little dab'll do ya..."

And remember Joe Namath shaving to "The Stripper" with the sultry young lady saying "Take it off - take it ALL off."

"Away go troubles down the drain - roto rooter" I actually quote this one sometimes ( the melody that is)
OK - that's all I can think of - there are surely many more

Hehe... the Roto-Rooter jingle was parodied in The Simpsons:

Original - "Roto-Rooter, that's the name. Away goes trouble, down the drain!"
Homer - "Mr. Plow, that's the name. That name again is Mr. Plow!"

Music for that was by John LaBarbera; his 2004 big band album "On the Wild Side" was nominated for a Grammy (new album's entitled: "Fantazm"). John's a great guy & a great teacher (I was lucky enough to have him for Small Combo Arr., Big Band Arr., & Computers & Music @ UofL), so you guys & gals should rush out and buy those cds ; his brothers Pat & Joe are among the terrific players in the group.

"Trop-Arctic all season motor oil, long live your car!"

"You deserve a break today, at McDonalds."

And Barry Manilow's contribution: "And like a good neighbor, State Farm is there."

Anyone know who wrote some of the others? The hot dog ones are my favorites.

At the very edge of memory- was there a Budweiser song?

There were other beer songs- "From the land of sky blue waters, comes the beer refreshing... Hamm's."

When you've said "Bud" you've said it all! (Remember the prancing horses?)
