I'm sure you "vals" have heard all about this, but for the rest of the country:

The ban's backers see smoking as a shameful vice that must be kept out of sight, an indecent activity from which adults must shield children's eyes as well as their noses. The logic of forcing people to set a good example for the kids—which also would justify banning fat people and motorcyclists from public places—reduces adults to the level of children whenever they venture out of their homes.
I think this exemplifies that the motivation to irradicate smoking in public is not driven by public health concerns but by moral intolerance.

Rights, what rights? Freedom? What the hell is that? I should have the unaliable right to hurt myself daily if I so choose and to hell with the rest of the population. Don't stand near me or walk by me if you don't like it.

I hope this goes up to the top.

    That's it...Pro-choice or Pro-Life.

I love California...you CAN'T smoke tobacco in a bar (or outside now), but you CAN smoke dope in a health clinic!

    There you have it.

And interesting to note, today Oxford University announced they would be 'comparing' Darwinism with Creationism in science classes.
You aren't the only people dealing with the rise of intolerant religious fundamentalists, determined to make all of us do it 'their' way.

    Pro-choice.
    A fading concept.

Yes, I too made a direct comparison of this smoking ban to the religous fundamentalist movement, however it should be clarified that these aren't Christians, they're just hardcore socialists bent on using whatever power they have to engineer a society better to their liking. And when I see them pulling crap like this, I can hardly distinguish between the two.

    A good point, Mike.
Perhaps it would have more correct for me to point out hardcore socialists are fundamentalists in their method, and lump them in with the other idiots, hell bent on telling us all how to live our lives. Contrary to the propaganda, we're only here once, and i intend to enjoy every moment, perpetuating every 'sin' possible within the principles of civilised behaviour.

    Time to light a cigar,
    while i still have choice.

    Regards,

This is just plain stupid. I like being able to eat and not smell somebody's cig (or farts or BO for that matter). I have no need or desire to tell others that they can't smoke, period.
