Thumbs up All Hands/GPO initial results - (was "Skysaw New Music Prize")

These are preliminary results for the first edition of the All Hands New Music Prize. Below are the top four entries to the contest, in no particular order. For information on all the entries, please see The original thread.

This Place I Used to Call Home, by Chris Bassett (CallMeZoot).

Alone Together by Greg Smith (ConwayLemmon)

    Bittersweet by Paula Douglas (Drumroll)

Remember me Fondly by Jon Bryson (jcbryson1)

    Congratulations on the final four!

Thank you everyone who entered! It's been tough just to narrow it down to four, and will be even tougher to decide final placement on these. Write-ups, announcement of final two, and voting will follow soon.

Be sure to catch the All Hands/GPO New Music Prize for April as well. Brand new instrument set and theme to be announced soon.

Wow! All four are very intense! I am partial to two but won't say. To all I would like to congratulate on well designed and composed pieces. Good luck to all four!

Thanks everybody for the compliments on our pieces, and thanks Skysaw for including mine in the running. I hope you don't mind, I posted my non-finalist submission in the Listening Room for comments.

We're in good company here -- I've been listening to all 4 pieces over and over, and I genuinely enjoy all of them. That's the great thing about this contest -- a few new pieces exist that wouldn't have existed otherwise...
