Kontakt 2 DFD settings for piano libraries?

    Hi there

Now that I hav upgraded to Kontakt 2, I'm confused about optimal DFD settings for loading (primarily Sampletekk) piano sample libraries.

I had some really nice help here - http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/...hlight=kontakt - but that was for Kontakt 1 and now I'm confused.

In the main Options page, I have:

    Channel buffer size - 120.00kb
    # reserved channel buffers - 1024
Total DFD memory required - 120.00mb

    In Expert Mode, I have:
Amount of memory you want to dedicate to DFD - 105.80mb
MAxim # of stereo DFD voices you will be able to play - 440

And finally, when I load a piano and click on Instrument Options, I have:

DFD Preload buffer size - 60.00kb

Does the above make sense at all? I know its trial and error, but there are so many variables compared with K1 that I am just lost.

    Can anyone help? Pretty please?

    Many thanks

I should add that I am looking for a decent balance between loading time (not too long) and performance. I'm no Bethoven, mainly pop/rock, so extreme performance is not or me

    Thanks all.

I don't know if this will help you but I have found that only 2 settings work for me. Either keep the default preload 60 kb and limit the number of voices to 120 (I use kornel mezos scripts), OR max out the preload at 240 kb and limit the voices to either 120 or 160 depending on what it will take without choking. I usually use the purgatory piano creek midi file to test if the current settings can make it through the whole song without stutering..

    Good luck!
