Hi, Gary - I teach composition to young people both at the Crowden School (in Berkeley, California), through the John Adams Young Composers Program (same home base) and at the San Francisco Conservatory (in their Summer Program). This idea of yours - already partly realized - is very, very good. I wish I had some time to volunteer to make it happen. I'm sure I'll be able to fold this into my work with my students, as they are (of course) more computer-literate than I. This is a very alluring way to get them to look at how orchestral effects are created.
My question has to do with using Sibelius to realize the sort of result you are getting here. I am very interested (both for me and for my students) if it is pointless to try to get the sort of expressivity you have in these score samples through Sibelius; if a program like Cubase or Performer - which allow use of the Mod Wheel - is the way to go.
Of course we can reap the benefits of your work without recreating it, but as both a teacher and a long-time Sibelius-user, I am wondering if you have any guidance.
