    Which Waltz Is This?

I want to know which waltz this is. I've just played the first notes of it on the piano. I've also included the beginning of what I might do with it.

Beats me, FL... though it does sound familiar.

well, it's definately one of the Johan Strauss waltzes.... but which one... hmmm... NOT being a fan of that style of music doesn't help.

isn't that one of the sections of the Blue Danube though?

Well, it begins with the first strain of "Tales From the Vienna Woods". But then it drifts a bit to somewhere I can't identify.

Definitely not the Blue Danube, which, whenever I saw it, was always brown, but that doesn't make such a pretty title.

I think they are two waltzes mixed together. I have to leave the house now but will come back to this.

    Sorry to confuse you guys.

There is a short pause after the first few notes and the rest is me messing with it. I mentioned that in my post.

I'll check out "Tales From the Vienna Woods." I thought it was Strauss.

    Thanks rwayland.

Yeah, but the beginning after the pause is from another Strauss waltz.

You'll have to be more specific our we'll have to go to the next contestant.

Sorry, I have searched for it in my sheet music but I did not find the title. I have it very clearly in my inner ear but no name, duh.

Think about Lehar, or another member of the Strauss family. The part following Tales of the Vienna Woods is familiar to me only in a vague, generic period waltz.
