I would certainly welcome more than one entry per person.

    Can ears drool?

Maybe it could be more interesting and practical to have only one entry per person. The entry could be in "variations" form, though, so you could put all your ideas together.
    Just my opinion.

When are we closing the competition?

I'm not sure if you have any desire to pursue composing for a living but if you do you'll find it to be a very deadline driven business. So, this is a great real world exercise.

Ok, so I am obviously missing something here, but even though I started from the top of the thread (yes, page 1..LOL) I still don't get it - the only thing I actually get is that this may be the seventh such competition? I may want to get involved in #8...what exactly is this about, and where do i sign up in the future?

Exactly. Heh - imagine you as a composer saying to the director and producer, "well, my music isn't going to be ready by May 18th, can we push back the final mix until the 25th?" Heh.

    Here's the archive page : http://www.wizardwalk.com/OrchestrationChallenges/

Basically, you orchestrate the melody above in whatever style you like, create an mp3, and email to me (seanthebest@gmail.com). No need to 'sign up' for anything! The entries are posted anonymously and all the forum members act as judge, using their own criteria to vote on them. The winner gets to write the melody for the next round (and collects the entries if he or she wants).

The deadline is currently May 24, but if we can push it even further back if need be... probably not until November though. I myself tend to start my entries just a few days before they are due... so there is always time! Actually, we could move it to Sunday, May 28, just so that it's at the end of a weekend...

    Re: Orchestration Challenge 7

I think someone tried to submit their entry, but unfortunately my wizardwalk.com email is being evil (something to do with the POP server, I'm bugging the heck out of support )... anyway, as far as I can tell, the email was lost (as was any other email I received last night and this morning... argh!).

Thus, if someone had submitted their entry, could you please resubmit it to my gmail account? seanthebest@gmail.com ? Sorry for the inconvenience. I think my regular email is working fine again, but I'd rather wait until I square everything away with the server's support people. I'm not sure whether or not I'll be able to get back that email I lost.

By the way, I always send back a confirmation message after receiving an entry, so if you don't get one within a day of submitting, it probably didn't get to me.

    Sean:

I have not tried to submit an entry yet but I did try to log on to wizard walk yesterday (5/11) without success. Sounds like you're aware that there has been a problem with the site.

I assume this was temporary and wizardwalk will be available soon

I'm not quite sure what's going on...

I've been very happy with the service (webhostingbuzz.com) for the past two years, and their prices are great, but for the last two months they seem to be having problem after problem... they better hurry up and pull it together! Argh!
