Yep, the deadline has passed and the entries will be put up soon!

There was an odd issue with one of the entries, I'm trying to see if I can work it out with the author first...

    Question Re: Orchestration Challenge 7

For some reason I am not being allowed to access certain aspects of the forum that I have done in the past. I'm not sure this will be allowed to post. Also, I note that it is not giving me the correct dates when I have been on line here.

    Wonder why.

WOW! We might need six weeks just to decide which to vote for...I'm only halfway thru and like everything I've heard so far.

Very impressive entries...great writing and great use of GPO!

    ;-)

EDIT: and, of course, it WAS a versatile theme that Sean gave everyone to work with; a nice "folky", open quality to it that was fun to play around with!

Jim Jarnagin - no not THAT Jim Jarnagin, the other one.

This is sort of a late entry but I was encouraged by Sean to submit it.

    I'll appreciate your comments!

    Re: Orchestration Challenge 7

    Hi,

I stumbled across this thread while perusing this website. I was originally drawn here by the orchestration online forum Garritan is hosting.

I am a newbie at orchestration and was curious about your challenge submissions so I listened to all the submitted pieces for challange 7. All I can say is "What a delight!" I wanted to applaud and shout "Bravo" after listening to each one. Thank you for sharing your hard work. It was a real pleasure to listen to all of your creative ideas and I learned a lot just by hearing how each of you approached the theme.

    Sincerely,

    Beverly

P.S. I forgot to ask...which piece won the challenge?

    Re: Orchestration Challenge 7

    Hi Beverly,

Welcome to the forum! Thanks for listening to the entries, I'm glad you enjoyed the results of the challenge!

Here was the official poll for the challenge (in another thread) : http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/...ad.php?t=45478

I don't think the melody for Challenge 8 has been set yet, but when it is I hope you'll consider participating in it, just for fun of course!
