    Nforce 4 fixed "almost"

    Nforce 4 is fixed “almost”
Since I was the loudest mouth piece about this issue, I thought I better be the one to release this.
After 16 months of Nforce 4 motherboards plagued with issues due to PCIe,
making them near useless for Pro Audio and in particular UAD cards, we now believe it is resolved.

We were able to run 2 UADs @97% and 1 Powercore @ 100% simultaneously with an RME fireface. (firewire on pcie)
We also tried 2 UADs and a Lynx AES 16, as well as 1 UAD and 1 Poco.
All performed very well with Nuendo 3 and Sonar 5.

Nforce 4 still shows a performance penalty of approx 10% over the long discontinued Nforce 3 ultra.
We are continuing to work with both AMD and Nvidia to resolve this. The performance penalty only seems to happen
in Nuendo 3. we have not yet tested Samplitude, Live, Pro tools, etc.

We can now recommend this chipset, however be advised we have not gone back and retested every Nforce 4
motherboard we had tested in the past. Nor do we intend to. For anyone owning Nforce 4 already I highly recommend you update your bios,
    and nvidia drivers.

I would like to thank UAD for their constant effort in working with us to resolve numerous issues with various chipsets
during the last yr +. I would also like to thank AMD and Nvidia for their support with this as well.
Also a thanks to Anders Fahlen in his pursuit of the issues and help getting the word out with all chipset issues.

Talking Re: Nforce 4 fixed "almost"

    Hi Scott,

Great news! Just before reading this, I installed my new mobo. I followed your advice and went with MSI Neo4 Platinum (NF4 Ultra). I still got no time to test it right, but so far, rock solid.

I don't use UADs, Poco or RME, neither Nuendo, so I think I'll see no latency penalty. Actually, I think this mobo works so much better than my previous Asus A8V Deluxe.

Well, I'll stick with my tests, but I'll be watching the news about the chipset. I still haven't updated my BIOS.

Thanks for all your efforts to make our lives better!

    Re: Nforce 4 fixed "almost"

I'm asuming that since the RME FireFace worked out , that my RME 9652 should fare OK running Sonar 5 ? ........Now if Kontakt would workout on this machine, I'd be all set !!......Thanks for the great news .... Somehow I would think that since it was a driver issue that probably other motherboards will have the same luck .... After what I went thru earlier , I will not be the one to try them out .....Time will tell ......Thanks again ....Sincerely, Jim

What kind of issues? I thought M-Audio cards were the most safe to use!!!
    Any trouble with Audiophile 2496?

    Re: Nforce 4 fixed "almost"

I knew there were early issues with the RME card, but thought maybe the new drivers would do the trick .....I guess not ... .....Oh well ......Back to the drawing board !!.... Maybe by the time this is figured out , the Intel/Mac will be up and running with all the bug's worked out ....Hmmmm.....Jim

    Re: Nforce 4 fixed "almost"

    Hi Jcschild,

I think I'm having this Nforce4 problem. I bought that mobo you told me, MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum. It seems it doesn't like my M-Audio Audiophile 2496. With both pieces, my PC shut down by itself. But the soundcard runs ok in another systems and the mobo runs ok without the card.
