    System Requirements For Windows Vista

Microsoft has announced hardware requirements for running Windows Vista. It looks like the Intel Macs should be able to use Boot Camp with support from Apple. Some people already have Intel Macs booting into the beta Windows Vista.

    From the Microsoft Vista site:

    Q.
What is required to run Windows Vista?

    A.
If you purchased a PC in the last two years, chances are good
that you can run Windows Vista today. To install and run the core
functionality of Windows Vista, you need:

    An 800 MHz processor.
    512 MB of RAM.
A 20 GB hard drive with 15 GB of free space.

I really love it when Microsoft jokes around like this. They're such
    funny, funny guys... lol.

Doesn't run on mine either. It couldn't run "Winsat", whatever that is.

well, forgit it. There are various flavours of the OS that are going to be released. How do we know which one we will actually need?

IMHO nobody actually 'needs' this upgrade. If I do install it, it will be at least a year after it gets released which is the usual MS timeframe for fixing serious bugs.

I'm in absolute agreement with that, Tony.

To me, you're just paying for the privilege of being another beta tester until they've had a new opsys out there for, at the very, very least, six to nine months -- and a year is a better idea.

I cannot say I am so impressed with Vista overall, particularly in terms of the general user, that any haste to adopt it would be warranted.
