Many thanks, Pingu, for the enthusiastic reception of the
piece. I'm most pleased you made your way to this one:
with all its flaws, it is one of my children that is, in many
ways, dearer to me than most others...

Fantastic Mr.Sosnowski...!! The intervals of the opening theme are very dramatic!

You have combined the equilibrism of the Vienna school with the American jazz pianist virtuoso tradition of Chick Chorea! I'm thinking of the way he uses his left hand on the pitch wheel of his keyboard ... and somewhere over the Cosmopolitonian Rainbow I hear a little police car sirene from one of VarÈse's creations...: )

Well, words are primitive... but, I tried my best! You have been influenced by great masters, aswell as they have been influenced by great masters!

I'm sure Frank Zappa would be envious of your orchestral escapades if he was still alive!

In my writing, often large portions of a piece are based
on various mutations and manipulations of just a few of
the opening notes, so the choice and shaping of them is
    a matter of care...

We all stand on the foundations created by the work of the
Masters before us, Fredrik. It is a matter I often ponder --
and keep very much in mind when writing: If it were not for
all the work that precedes us, what we write today would
not have such a rich musical vocabulary upon which to draw.
And though surely one tries to expand and enhance that
vocabulary, one must also remain connected to it as one
does -- or what we write would make little sense.

Wherever Frank is, I do hope he's listening... lol!

David - am finally getting to comment on this! Getting behind again! You have this ability to keep outdoing or re-inventing yourself on all of your pieces which makes them all great but different. (That was a compliment by the way)

I really liked the way you have intermingled the classical and jazz with the piano and trumpet here and there. Lots of great tension and suspense. Those JABB trumpets are great, yes!

And... I must say it sounds (the mix) really good. All that agonizing about reverb is paying off! I listened once with headphones (Grado SR-80's) and once with speakers.

Again - Thanks for the opportunity to listen!

You and me, both... lol. There's so much new music presented
lately, it's hard to keep up!

To me, Del, that's one of the nicest things you can say to a
writer. Thank you. It's a challenge I think all writers worry
over... saying something new with each piece; yet remaining
true to their own voice while doing it.

I take a certain amount of flack about those trumpet parts...
but I think strong players, today, can handle them. You hear
good Jazz players do material more difficult than this all the
time. Given that, I see no reason why we shouldn't be
including this kind of playing in our orchestral works intended
    for professional ensembles.

And... I must say it sounds (the mix) really good. All that agonizing about reverb is paying off! I listened once with headphones (Grado SR-80's) and once with speakers.
I've a very long way to go with rendering, Del; but like
most things, if you bludgeon away at it, eventually you get
better at it... lol. I sure do like hearing that the mix is
a decent job, though -- it's an area I don't seem to have
much facility with, and I really do "agonize" over it.

Again - Thanks for the opportunity to listen!

    Del
Many thanks for taking time with this, Del, I appreciate
the listen and the kind comments!
