    SUDDENLY MOTHS (Visions Suite)

Another section of my "Visions" suite for full orchestra. The completed suite will contain 6 short movements. SUDDENLY MOTHS is slated to be the third movement.

Very nice musical imagery. I can't wait to hear the rest of your suite.

    Jamie:

Great piece and very descriptively orchestrated. The tempo and rhythmic figures fit the title precisely. The melody is also compelling and the mild dissonance is tastefully noted.

Good use of all sections of the orchestra.

What else can I say, except........

That woodwind work at the opening [and later] is superb, Jamie.

Well built, interesting writing and novel orchestration as always,
of course -- I've come to routinely expect no less from you!

I am much looking forward to hearing this in the context of the
completed suite, Jamie. This movement seems to ask for
    thematic connection to both something prior and something latter;
and I am most curious to have the sense of fruition that will
    bring.

Please! Don't keep us waiting too, too long, my friend -- this
is shaping up into a fascinating work.

    My best,

Bravo, Jamie. A fascinating and well written piece. The relentless energy and imaginative use of orchestral colors were very effective. I listened to this four times and discovered something new each time. Thanks for sharing and I am anxious for the completed suite.

Thank you, Gary. Just in case you missed the earlier posts, here are the two other movements I've shared to this point:
    I. The Overgrowth (Overture)
    II. A Miniature Spectacle

The names and order may change before the whole thing is complete. Most likely change is that Moths may be swapped to movement four and the slow movement I'm working on placed at three.

Thank you, Jack. I confess that the title was taken from one of my pre-written list of possible work titles after this movement was halfway complete. It seemed to suit it quite well, and influenced the rest of the writing after I had selected it.

Thanks David. I've been concentrating on playing with winds in different ways, and this was pretty fun (though quite a bear) to pull together. The parts are broken up between the players, and I don't think they present much difficulty for performance.

There is a definite thematic connection between all movements. The challenge for me at this point is determining the final order of movements. After I am completely happy with the order, I may alter the existing sections so they fit more naturally where I place them.

Thanks again for taking the time to listen and respond in depth. The entire community owes you a debt of gratitude for your dedication.

Excellent work, Jamie. I expect once complete this suite will be another amazing opus. Love the continuous waves of sound. Lots of great textures here, from the smooth quality in the woods to the brittle feel of the harp and pizz strings. The harmonic elements of this piece are just amazing.
