    "Concert Band" by Gary Bricault

Gary Bricault has also sent in his Concert March.

Here is the Concert March "2006":

    http://www.garritan.com/mp3/gb-ConcertMarch2006.mp3

Gary writes: "Marches has always been one of my favorite band performing medium. This concert march was written as much in the style of Sousa, my favorite composer for marches. It is dedicated to the Penfield High School graduating class of 2006."

Thanks again Gary for an outstanding work. Great to hear one of your own!

Indeed, good to hear more of your own work, Gary; though
I do indeed admire many of the transcriptions.

Gary's been kind enough to preview some of his concert band
pieces by email, and he's proving to be one of our most able
and often quite innovatively skillful concert band writers.

In addition to this fine piece, be certain not to miss Gary's
excellent First Suite For Band -- a "must hear".

    Best,

Snappy march, Gary. It does indeed have a Souza-like feel while maintaining an originality of your own. It reminds me of my days in boot camp when I was cut off from all music except the marches played on loud speaker while we marched in the San Diego sun. I developed a love for Souza that remains to this day. Well done.

    Hi Bill,

Thanks for your kind comments. Sousa certainly was the master of the field marches. I tried to do justice to his style of writing, those great themes that get stuck in one's head and just don't go away. I hope your foot was tapping as you listened

I always enjoy a good march. It has the Souza feel to it alright.

What's better than playing good music and marching together on a sunny day for happy crowds but it's great in a concert setting also.

Thanks for your comments. Marching on a nice day is great but I love the concert setting and that was the audiance I wrote it for. Glad that you enjoyed it.

Ted that for the comment on the march. It is a fun piece that I wrote along with First Suite For Band, also posted on the forum by Gary G.

Wow...Too Live Nurse reminds me of a group of high school teachers here that formed a group called No Child Left Behind !!!
