OT: Audio mixdown sounds dull
I'm getting started with Cubase SX3 and I'm noticing that when I mixdown a couple of tracks to audio, the audio actually sounds much thinner than when I play the MIDI tracks 'live' through the VSTs.
What can this be? Is this something inherent to digital summing? How come the audio sounds different after it's been written to WAV and not before? (I mixed down to 44.1khz/32 bit float...)
I'm by no means an audiophile, but this is quite a difference. Anyone?
Re: OT: Audio mixdown sounds dull
Turns out the VST instrument was leaving out release samples on mixing down. Realtime mixdown solved the problem.
