Cool Dept: First Solar-Powered Recording Studio

According to Synthtopia, here's the first fully professional solar powered recording studio in the UK. Built using recycled materials and adapted to managing with a low energy demand.

"Studio Director Nathan Hale is reported as saying: “The idea of a solar powered studio has certainly raised a few eyebrows, but it works brilliantly. We’ve been doing dry runs with bands like Bloc Party and the audio quality is phenomenal. These days more and more music artists are thinking about their ‘carbon footprint’, so it was only a matter of time before a fully fledged eco-studio became a reality.” Maybe it's the sort of venue that treehugging vibe crafters like Kelley Stoltz, Shakira, Cloud Cult, ColdPlay, Sarah McLachlan, Jack Johnson, Joss Stone, and Moby would consider for their next album?"
This seems like a good idea. No electric bills and getting the studio completely off the grid.

DPDan could even power the place with his sunny disposition!

DPDan IS solar powered. Those wonderful ears double as collectors. He has to sleep out in the sun all day so he can work in the studio all night. The more sun he gets the higher frequencies he can hear.

    Got ta love that guy.

Well, getting of the grid is commonplace here. Staying on is an adventure.

I wonder how long would it take for cost recuperation in the form of no electric bills?

Acutally, it sounds like a good idea, and I would love to see a practical version of it that I could afford.

LOL, sorry Richard but you have too many redwoods blocking off all the sun rays so all you would ever get is pops and clicks and stutters!
