The 'Decision Time' cue is from a TV film about a Kurd who escaped Iraq under Saddam after being pointlessly tortured as a teenager. It's a personal story and follows two trips back to Kurdistan since Saddam's downfall, and the plight of the Kurds who have been kind of forgotten yet again in all the mayhem.
I didn't want to do 'travelogue' stylee music, and suddenly realised that the sop sax is probably as exotic sounding to a middle eastern audience as it is to a western one with out being specific to either. The sax generally represents some sort of inner dialogue in the film.
I just heard that 'Return To Kirkuk' (which this track comes from) is getting it's first outing on Al Jazeera before showing on Channel 4 in the UK. This is a first for me!
I'm so glad I used the Sop Sax and not a ney flute!
