    Chord Reductions

Perhaps I'm jumping way ahead, but the Kennan book has a very nice study technique of concert reduction. Here it is:

It would be nice if we could see some of these reductions in R-K (which will be easy once we have the actual XML file, I guess.)

The Kennan book is one of about 5 or 6 classic texts on orchestration. Others off the top of my head (besides Rimsky) are those of Cecil Forsyth (dated, but an incredible resource), Alfred Blatter, and Hector Berlioz/Richard Strauss. Actually, I'd add Alan Belkin's book to that list as well. I've heard excellent things (often on this forum) about the texts of Gordon Jacob and Charles Koechlin as well, but have never read them.

Not surprisingly, all these authors are also well-known composers.

I guess I was premature in this request. It seems that R-K has a very similar section coming in a future lesson. I don't have the book so I didn't know.
