Euphonium - taste like chicken? or trombone?

I desperately need a good Euphonium sound.

Has anyone tweaked a GPO trombone to give a more mellow Euphonium sound?

If so, would you be willing to share it?

    Thanks

Music is a manifestation of the human spirit similar to a language. If we do not want such things to remain dead treasures, we must do our upmost to make the greatest number of people understand their secrets -- Zoltan Kodaly

Depending on how high of a register you need, I suggest using one of the tubas. The Tuba solo 2 aggr is a workable sound.

So does the world. It would promote world peace & unity and put former mortal enemies in a state of blissful harmony forever.

    Ron...
Until such time as Mr. G. releases a REAL euphonium sample played by a REAL euphonium player, thus achieving GPO(A) sample nirvana, you are better served to use a french horn sample as a start for tweaking or the tuba 1 solo instrument.
Don't use a trombone--it's a cylinder, whereas french horns and tubas are conoidal like the euph.
GPO instruments are editable in Kontakt 2, but not in the basic GPO Kontakt player--that's all I know.
Here's an option--fly me and my horns into Colorado, put me up for a couple weeks, with 4 square meals a day, and I'll let you sample all my horns.

No, but I now use synthetic valve oil when preparing my world-famous pineapple-turnip surprise. Just can't get the real thing any more

Man, you must be psychic, Ern (NOT psychotic, PSYCHIC). I have that score in front of me now (Colin Mathews revision) as I am studying scoring for wind ensemble.

Get a real one... I mean, come on, its not like they have other gigs to go to. I bet you could pick up one to work full time for less than minimum wage.

Actually, I wish I'd known about the need a month ago. I was recording a fantastic euphonium player. It'd have been nothing to get him to record some samples while we were in session.

Noooo! Not Leonard Nimoy singing We need the Euphonium, the graceful weapon of mass confusion to deter that. We will make haste to include those Euphonium sample in the GPO family.

Rumor has it the a Mr. Snorlax played several of his Euphonium for the Marching Band collection

It could be worse.. think of William Shatner singing
