    Hi to the Listening Room.
I've written this very small [less than one minute in length], and fast Piano piece, but I have two possible endings. It's using the GPO Steinway Piano Lite. The playback is from a Sibelius 4 score, and I later added reverb in my Cakewalk Home Studio 2004 sequencer to the exported audio file from Sibelius.
I am just wondering which ending anyone listening would prefer.
On the mp3 you hear both versions. In version 1, the first ending begins at 33 seconds into the mp3, and the different ending for the second version starts at 1 minute 20 seconds in the mp3 file.
If anyone can just tell me which they prefer that would be really helpful.

thanks for any feedback anyone can give me with this.

    best,

    Steve,

WOW very cool piece!!!!! I'll take both endings...to go no less
I think that this would be a great piece to orchestrate as well.

Well, using one as a false ending and the other as the "real" ending seems like a good idea. Otherwise, it is up to you to determine which one feels like the best fit.

    Steve,

Another wonderful piece you've written! Excellent writing with this.

Well, for the endings... Both fit really well, IMO. Who says you can't have two endings to a piece, eh? You could add one ending as an ossia or something, y'know?

BTW, are you still working on the Fantasia by any chance? I'd love to hear the rest of the movements, I still remember the first, and it was quite wonderful.

    Terrific work!

There's a modern feel to this arrangement in the style of a Broadway play... For some reason i envisioned this piece working very well with choreography! Very high in energy.

... as for the ending: their both terrific!

I agree ..... Perhaps you can fit both endings in ... which is not unusual to have.

    Great work!

Thank you to all of you for your feedback. That has helped a lot. I will take the advice into account in doing the final score.
Cataclysm, thanks for the enquiry about the other movements of the Fantasia.
I have finished the basic orchestra sketch. I just have to finish some of the scoring for the chords for the last movement. I hope to have it up on the SibeliusMusic site soon. I'll also post it here as well.

Thanks again to all of you for your help and advice.

    best regards,

    Steve

Re: Feedback on Piano Toccato needed.

    Hello Steve,
I would be happy with either ending, but if pushed I would opt for the second one, as the change to major tonality provides a nice contrast.
Well done on this, it sounds very pianistic.

    Ok everybody,
Here it is - finally finished! It now uses the major key ending, and I've added a few changes.

    Hi Steve,
You've done a very fine toccata, here.
For my taste, what you wrote is a first and short coda then a final one with more bread.
Why don't you keep it like that, with one more measure after the first exposure. I'm not a fan of repetitions, but I think here it's a good idea.
But feel free, Steve, of course. You're the composer and must do as you feel.

    Mayer

A very fine piano sounding, cool and lite.
