He used 2 horns, trumpet, trombone and tuba.
Again, excellent work Jamiha. You are getting better with each lesson.
Thanks for sending this and I hope others follow yuor lead and send in their exercises. If you cannot host them email them to me and I will provide a link.

I was playing around with one of the scores to learn from it. I liked Snegouratchka #8 from lesson 6, and Antar from lesson 8, and so I coppied the scores into Finale, noticing alot of similarities in those two and a few others.
I used the score from Antar's patterns of notes, changed notes but kept much of the durations and rythm patterns to make a short score and learned a lot from it. I then changed the durations in a few places here and there but used it as a starting base, because i'm still learning to read music.
Then I coppied and pasted and used the tranpose for doubling and octaves and fifths, etc., and tinkered around some. It has most of what i learned from the lessons, even though some of it has been a bit over my head and I plan to go back over several of the lessons.
It unintentionally veered a tad away from the classical sound i was after but came out sounding kinda cool and I'm finally getting better using Finale. I'm going to add a little pizz Bass or Cello, but haven't done that yet.

It has two Flutes, two Clarinets, two English Horns, Bassoon, Trumpet, French Horn, Harp, Violin and Cello.
Leaf,
Very nice synopsis of the various lessons. I like what you did with the instrumentation and an excellent application of the material in the lessons. Excellent work! Thanks for posting this and I'm looking forward to hearing more of your work.

Thanks, Gary.
In the Melody-Brass-Summary test examples mp3s, the Trombone one is not working, messed up link.
Good grief, who did those? The melody-brass-summary1-horn-test.mp3 is surely among the most beautiful things ever written, it almost brings a tear to my eye, no matter how many times i listen to it. The bar has been set very very high, I'm going to have to get binoculars.
You are welcome, Robert. Wow, I didn't realize it was the same. This must be the background it was aways meant to be with. I don't mind wearing out another mouse clicking it, but it really needs to be longer and on a CD, it's only 25 seconds long and i honestly believe it is the prettiest music I have ever heard in my life.Originally Posted by Cantabile

Here is my MelodyBrassSummary exersize, with 4 french Horns and one trombone in unison. It had 2 trombones, but even with several volume adjustments it was still over powering, so I took one out. I also deleted a quarter note that was beside an sixteenth rest in the middle of the trombone's stave, so he or she could take a breath, which isn't too noticable but I was curious if that is enough time for a player to take a breath.
edit: i found that the problem wasn't the trombone but one of the frenchhorns which i changed from solo to a section player and put the tombone back in.
Hi all,
here's a couple of my brass exercises. Not sure about the second one; tried to go for a cheeky 'raspberry' effect at the end - can't make up my mind if it works or not.

Ben, I wanted to hear your examples but the hosting was a bit problematic. First you have to wait 30 second (probably to view the ads), then type in a funny code number, then download a zip file to your computer, then unzip it and then finally play.Originally Posted by benhillyard
I would really like to listen to what you have done. If you want, just email me the files and I can host it with a direct mp3 link and it will be much easier for everyone to listen.
Thanks for posting these.
