    Parade of the Little Children

Yesterday, being rather pleased with my work on Wedding Dance, I sat right down and wrote the next part of the suite:

    Parade of the Little Children

Two more parts to go, and "From an Imaginary Land" will be finished.

    Richard,

You had me within the first 30 seconds... that was when the mental imagery started flowing...

:::a kids dressed as cowboys and indians... the proverbial ragamuffins... the kid with the WWI pilot cap with the goggles pulled down:::

This almost brought to mind the Little rascals. Wow, very cool. I was not to keen on this for those first 29 seconds. The disonances were grateing, and then it all made sense!

I loved this! Congratulations on a wacky, weird, and wonderful jouney into the world of children!

    Thanks,
    Paul

Enjoyed this, Richard; the Wayland approach to an adagio...

You didn't mention order, but if this is to follow from
Wedding Dance, it indeed does so fittingly and comfortably.

Looking forward to hearing the complete suite.

    Richard!

How charming. This has mischief and fun flowing all throughout it!

I loved the ending! Totally unexpected tonally from what has been playing beforehand.

    Thanks for sharing this.

Re: Parade of the Little Children

Well, thanks for the comments. For 10 years or so, I was involved with children in wholesale lots, and enjoyed it, and have some very pleasant memories.

I was great fun writing this slightly off kilter piece. A V - I cadence at the end of a piece that is virtually atonal (but NOT dodecaphonic!) is not an easy thing to pull off, and I am quite pleased with it. It needed a solid ending, so I had to use this technique, which I have used at least once before.

Great performance Richard, enjoyed listening very much. I pictured a parade of kids while listening and it fits so perfectly well, you amaze me.

The ending reminds me of the kid that whenever you give him an icecream cone, he holds it sideways and lets the scoop of icecream plop to the ground.

    I've heard about you, Richerd,
but I didn't meant to find such a sensitve piece of music!
Such a tenderness, such a fine humour!

    Niiiice!
I'll certainly hear more from yours. The wedding dance? Let's prepare!

    Cheers

    Richard,

Nice piece, very much like a march of young children, never quite together but eventually they all get where they need to be.
