Sound design in this Atmosphere patch...

I was wondering if anyone had any more ideas than me about what sort of techniques might have been used to create the patch 'Paleolithic' in Atmosphere. It's in the Folder Ambient > Brooding Menace.

In particular that kind of brassy sound that starts after a couple of seconds. It starts off sounding very ambient and seems to 'whoosh' forwards while panning from left to right. My description does not do it justice!

I'd love to be able to create this type of effect but despite much experimenting don't seem to be able to get close.

It's pretty hard to describe in words how that sound was created. :-)

A lot of it was by drawing things in Pro Tools via many different processing stages.

Diego Stocco created that BTW....he's an extremely talented sound designer from Italy and an important member of our development team.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't think it would be straightforward.

I'll keep messing around because it's still good fun, perhaps I'll stop worrying about recreating a very specific effect and aim to do something similar of my own.

    Good luck

Curiousity killed the cat...but made the sound engineer rich.
