    Symphony #2 (3rd movement)

here is the recently completed 3rd movement of the Sinfonia Canadensis "a Canadian Symphony".
    this movement is "Maritimes"

it functions as the brief scherzo of the five movement form.

scampering strings and fanfare-ish brass intercut with fragments of folklore or "national" tunes from the Maritime provinces (in succession - Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, New Bruswick). Oh, and a few passing references to "Oh Canada".

the other movements are available on my website.

(for some reason, no matter how perfect the MP3 I create, when it gets to the website there are ticks and various artifacts... very annoying. so apologies for that.)

Thumbs up Re: Symphony #2 (3rd movement)

    What wonderful, cheerful music, Michel!

Folks, if you haven't stopped by for a listen, do so NOW...

And while you're at it, listen to the other movements of this symphony as well - Michel is well on the way to writing ANOTHER fine piece.

    An unreserved BRAVO!

    thank-you thank-you thank-you!
    such praise

this is one of those pieces you dream of writing.
I've been planning it for years and only really had the chance to work on it now. or rather, the inspiration finally hit me square in the forehead.

Great work with this! There is quite a variety in rhythm, texture, and orchestration... it remains interesting and engaging throughout... very nice work, I especially enjoy your woodwind and brass work.

    Michel,

VERY well done! It is both quaint and powerful in its own right. Very cleaver interleaving of themes and coloring with the orchestration. You made excellent use of the GPO.

What a joyous piece! I loved every moment of it. Very nice writing and imaginative orchestration. Very solid.

I didn't hear any ticks or artifacts with the exception of a tiny bit of digital distortion about 10 seconds before the end, where it sounds like the level went over 0db.
