Excuse the long post.

A little background. I was a musician (by career) up until 1975 when I made the decision to go to medical school and have been a practicing psychiatrist for the last twenty or so years.

During the time I was involved in music I wrote a fair amount of music of various sorts - but never gave much attention to protecting it.

Now I'm trying to start writing again and wonder what some of you do about protecting your music. Do you copyright it or set up a publishing co - what are some of the ways to make it safe to distribute your music without the danger of having it usurped in some way?

Any suggestions along these lines would be appreciated.

Maybe the best tning would be just to leave it unprotected as I have in the past. I really don't expect to think of it too commercially.
