It's the final movement of my piano concerto. As I don't play keyboards, I find scoring for piano rather challenging - hence I came up with a concerto that was deliberately spacious and not over complicated. Feedback welcome please. In particular, is the volume about right? BTY, I've reposted Images of Bude (4) as this was rather low on volume.
Good use of restraint, allowing the melody carry itself forward.
...And a terrific melody at that!
There's a nice dialogue interplay between the orchestration and the piano that works very well.
I really enjoyed this!
Thanks Jeff, I really appreciate your comments. Some of this earlier stuff involved a lot of effort and it's difficult to know whether it's worth revisiting it now that GPO and Finale have moved forward. Or whether to just concentrate on writing fresh stuff. The entire concerto is about 25mins which is why I just posted the last bit of it!
Hi David, thanks for listening in and commenting. For those of us that are testing the water, your comments are a great inspiration and source of guidance. I put out an earlier piece to guage reaction. This is partly because I'm struggling to reach a balance between concentrating on new stuff and trying to improve (salvage) earlier work. Your feedback provides food for thought and is much appreciated.
