It's been running for twelve years, and there are usually only about a couple of hundred people there.
This is the least international lineup in recent years--it's mostly American this time around. But you can look up the lists of bands from previous years. Bands from all over the world. It's pretty impressive.
If there was no Internet (starting with the Usenet group rec.music.progressive many years ago), none of these people, performers or audience, would have ever met each other, let alone come to Chapel Hill, North Carolina every year.
