Which Game Console Will Dominate

My money's on the PS3, but only after they've clawed their way back to the top over the next year or two. The 360 has a tremendous head-start, and really isn't a bad system. The only thing keeping me from buying it is the idea of putting more money in Microsoft's pocket. =-)

I read an article this morning about how all three systems cater differently to people's gaming needs and that all 3 will be considered successful. The Wii right now is doing great, the Xbox 360 has been doing great, and the PS3 will be doing great.

Well so far we have a virtual tie in the Poll: interesting.
Also interesting is the November game console sales results and launch of the PS3. Playstation 2 continues to lead sales with The XBox 360 close behind. And not far behind the XBox was the Wii, a surprise to many. Far behind (with less than 1/3 of the sales of the PS2) in last place is Playstation 3...but hey, it is only at the beginning of its run. The final Holliday score will be interesting.

Good to see things are just as fierce as the good ol MegaDrive II vs. SNES days.

I am old enough to have owned a nintendo, sega master system 2, and an atari 2600 (for those that remember what that was).

10.4 million Xbox 360's sold in a little over a year.
4.16 million Wii's sold in a little over 2 months.
53% of respondents on that site think the Wii will win 'the war' vs. 30% on the 360.

One has the sales lead, but one has the momentum. I suspect that Microsoft and Sony were so busy taking pot-shots at one another that neither of them realized that Nintendo wasn't the 'complimentary' console they had hoped it would be (i.e. not-direct competition). Most of the industry commentary I've read sez that Ninty is causing a great deal of concern at both MS and Sony.

I bought a Wii and I love it. For me there is the added benefit of being able to get some exercise* without really realizing it. And I haven't bought a game yet that wasn't fun, addictive, and well done.






*And at my age I need all of the exercise I can get!

Define dominate Power wise I think that that PS3 will dominate with superior graphics and some great looking games. The Wii has the potential to claim a bigger share of the console market this time around as opposed to the N64 and GC, where they sold a CONSIDERABLE less amount of consoles than Sony and Microsoft.
