We\'ve now got great 24 bit/96Khz sound sources from Giga and others (new for me) and this great sound is going through 24/96-capable sound cards, recording direct to disk. But when it\'s time to burn the CD, oops, this won\'t work. It needs 16bit/44.1Khz sound files.

So, my question: How do really smart people maximize the 24/96 power while going toward CDs? (Sure, we\'ll all be using DVD-R before too long but for now.)

Should I just record to hard disk at 16/44.1 or record at the higher resolution then do a file conversion?

Anyhone know a discussion thread or article on this somewhere. I know this is really basic but would appreciate any clues. Thanks very much!
